Our client, an established northeast manufacturer of components for the automotive industry, is seeking a permanent Die Maintenance Tooling Engineer to join the company as a result of expansion.

Purpose of the role:

Repairing and maintaining automotive press stamping dies. Performing complex die repairs and modifications; identifying areas for improvement, along with performing corrective, scheduled, and preventive maintenance on die equipment. In addition, to be jointly responsible for the introduction of robotic machinery into the facility as part of the Company’s continued investment in process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

·Identifying and resolving stamping press die performance to repair or enhance quality issues

·Performing preventative maintenance on dies between each production run

·Modifying tools to meet die specifications

·Performing machining and fabricating on stamping dies by way of repair or to improve efficiency

·Continually identify areas for continuous improvement

·Manage implementation of new dies, conducting test runs and making adjustments, to ensure specification of all parts are maintained

·Fault-finding of any quality issues that arise, identifying avoidance measures in the process

·Close liaison with senior management/production team to minimise impact on production levels

·Promote H&S continually; solving problems quickly to improve the safety, productivity, and quality of stamping dies

Person Specification:

·HNC/D or time-served in a relevant engineering discipline

·Experience working within a tool room or press shop

·Experience of/exposure to the introduction of robotic processes into a tool room and/or press shop

·Solid understanding and implementation of Lean/Continuous Improvement methodologies
